CNC Operator I: Rockford, Illinois (2nd Shift)

Our customer in Rockford, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting CNC Operators to work full-time on 2nd shift. As a CNC Operator I, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery, such as Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, or Nakamuras. This entry- to mid-level role focuses on building proficiency while ensuring smooth equipment operation, maintaining product quality, and adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities of the CNC Operator I:

• Perform machine setup for CNC equipment by following setup sheets and loading dies and tooling
• Assist CNC Setup Technicians and Operators with machine calibration and changeovers for production runs
• Support in changing inserts, tooling, and performing necessary adjustments for routine operations
• Operate CNC machinery to produce parts according to detailed specifications
• Inspect products during production using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools
• Document production activities including machine performance, quality checks, and material usage in ERP systems
• Assist with minor troubleshooting and basic machine maintenance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following PPE and safety protocols
• Perform quality checks to ensure all parts meet company and customer specifications
• Flex across departments when needed to meet operational demands

CNC Operator I Requirements and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or significant relevant work experience
• 1–3 years of experience operating CNC machinery
• Proficient in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
• Skilled with hand tools including drills, screwdrivers, and impact tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, and technical documentation
• Experience operating single-axis and multi-axis CNC machines
• Steel-toe boots or shoes required
• Strong attention to detail and safety

Pay for CNC Operator I : Starting at $19-$23.75/hour.
