Sous Chef
We are hiring a Sous Chef to join our team at Maman Zari in Albany Park,. The ideal candidate possesses extraordinary attention to detail, exacting focus, and strong culinary experience. This role requires dedication, passion, creativity, and the ability to persevere through challenging services while constantly maintaining our standards.
As part of the culinary team, you will develop menu items for seasonal menus and special events based on Persian cuisine for a small elevated dining restaurant with exacting standards. As a sous chef you will be creating and delivering memorable dining experiences for our guests while expanding your culinary repertoire.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing daily kitchen operations including, but not limited to:
- Ability to work all stations with precision and consistency
- Maintain daily inventory
- Audit all kitchen areas and staff for compliance with health code
- Lead by example and maintain a positive work environment
- Work under the guidance of the Executive Chef and ownership
- Daily maintenance of BOH systems - Continually follow all BOH systems from AM walkthrough, temp logs, line checks, prep lists, order guides, recipes, etc.
- Work with the Executive Chef and team to create new menu items seasonally.
- Record the recipes and plating of these menu items for consistent replication
Requirements
- 5 years as part of a professional kitchen team, supervisory experience is a plus
- Unprecedented work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to take direction well and pivot priorities quickly and efficiently
- Think clearly, quickly, and maintains concentration during high pressure situations
- Basic computer skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
