With a manageable caseload of 300 files, the team efficiently navigates and engages with approximately 20-30 cases each week. Renowned for their prowess in pre-trial litigation and negotiation, the firm remarkably experiences minimal trials, typically averaging one per year. The attorney staff boasts a wealth of collective experience, with Jeremy having dedicated two decades to the firm. The support staff, while having an annual clerk turnover, includes two dedicated secretaries. Job Brief: The firm currently seeks a Paralegal/Litigation Assistant to join its dynamic, close-knit legal team at a small yet influential personal injury law firm, where you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in every aspect of the litigation and client service process. Responsibilities:- Handle scheduling and file management tasks efficiently.
- Order and track medical records.
- Demonstrate the ability to gather information and present it concisely and coherently; experience in organizing and presenting information, particularly in requesting and chronologizing medical records and documents.
- Follow cases from initiation to conclusion, learning each step initially and subsequently managing the process independently.
- Draft pleadings, request medical records, and engage in professional correspondence with clients and other counsel.
- Strong email, communication, and professional writing skills are essential.
- The ability to adapt and learn from provided examples, demonstrating intelligence and initiative in executing tasks.
Background and Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a legal environment, ideally with exposure to workers' compensation and/or personal injury law.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in technology and adaptable to different software/tools.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates a learner/growth-oriented mindset.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Willingness to work in a small practice environment.
- Quick learner who can adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
Compensation and Job Structure
This is a full-time, onsite position located in Northbrook, Illinois. Compensation includes a salary of $60k–$70k commensurate with experience, plus benefits, including participation in a firmwide profit-sharing program.
