Construction Safety Manager

If you are an experienced Construction Safety professional with strong demolition, environmental hazard, and field safety expertise, this role may be a great fit.

We are looking for a skilled Safety Manager with deep knowledge of demolition safety, including asbestos, lead, silica, and other environmental hazards. This person will drive safe work practices, conduct detailed field audits, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular safety assessments and inspections on demolition and abatement job sites.
• Identify hazards and implement preventative controls, especially those related to asbestos, lead, and environmental contaminants.
• Develop and oversee site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Activity Hazard Analyses.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for crews and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; prepare written reports and corrective action recommendations.
• Maintain accurate safety records and compliance documentation.
• Partner with project managers, site leaders, and environmental consultants to ensure consistent safety practices.
• Stay current on all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of construction safety experience, ideally in demolition, abatement, or heavy civil work.
• Strong background in asbestos and lead safety procedures; certifications such as AHERA or EPA Lead Renovator are highly preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification required (OSHA 500 or 510 a plus).
• Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA, IDPH, and related regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple job sites independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office.
