V3 Construction Group is seeking a Shop Mechanic in our West Chicago, IL office. V3 perform a wide range of services related to construction of site infrastructure, wetland mitigation and native. Equipment utilized for this work includes a fleet of vehicles along with small tractors, skid steers, landscape power tools, trucks, trailers, and other miscellaneous power equipment.

The Role

As one of our Shop Mechanics, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our fleet of vehicles and equipment running smoothly.

Here's what you'll do:

• Perform general automotive repairs (think Ford F-series pickups and SUVs), including oil changes and fluid replacements.
• Tackle engine repairs on small tractors, power tools, and landscape equipment ranging from small tune-ups to engine rebuilds.
• Diagnose issues with vehicles and small engines, ranging from routine concerns to more complex engine problems.
• Provide occasional field repairs for landscape equipment and attachments.
• Maintain an organized shop and ensure proper documentation is completed.
• Use computers comfortably for work orders, timecards, and purchase orders.

We're looking for:

• Foundational knowledge of engine and equipment operation, with an understanding of general maintenance procedures.
• Skilled in using hand tools and performing mechanical work safely and effectively.
• Physically able to lift/carry at least 50 lbs and work comfortably in varied environments, including overhead lifts and tight spaces.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Clear and effective communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.
• Mechanical knowledge, including familiarity with truck, trailer, and equipment weights.
• Valid driver’s license required, Class A CDL a plus.
