Alliance Labor Group is assisting a client in the Global logistics industry with hiring an experienced Import Operations Coordinator.
This role is responsible for managing import freight operations, ensuring timely clearance through U.S. Customs, and coordinating delivery to final destinations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international forwarding, documentation processing, and customer service within a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with agents, partners, and carriers to ensure all import shipments are properly documented
- Process and distribute documentation for incoming shipments and consolidations
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and documentation requirements
- Prepare and submit I/T entries for shipment forwarding
- Arrange transportation, including trucking and air freight, to final destinations
- Negotiate rates with carriers to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery
- Coordinate local deliveries after customs clearance
- Issue invoices and provide rate quotations to customers and internal teams
- Communicate with customers and international partners regarding shipment status
- Support customer service processes and maintain service standards
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in import operations or freight forwarding
- Strong understanding of international logistics and customs processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to perform basic calculations related to duties, freight, and charges
- Strong communication and organizational skills
