Behavioral Health Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Behavioral Health Technician (Psych/MH Tech)
• Location: Harvey, IL 60426 (Chicago metropolitan area)
• Healthcare Setting: Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (Locked Unit)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $720 - $730 per week
• Employment Type: Travel healthcare job
• Patient Population: Adults (18+)
• No on-call or float required

Psych/MH Tech Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician, Psychiatric Technician, or Psych/MH Tech
• Experience working in a locked psychiatric unit required
• Proficient in obtaining vital signs, applying 4-point restraints, and de-escalation techniques
• Current CPR certification required; CPI certification preferred
• Experience leading group therapy and familiarity with electronic charting systems preferred
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Active Illinois healthcare license at time of submission
• References: Two required (one from direct supervisor or manager)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and clinical support to adults in a locked inpatient psychiatric unit
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and conduct regular safety checks
• Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to ensure patient and staff safety
• Apply and monitor restraints in accordance with hospital policy and behavioral health regulations
• Lead or assist in group therapy sessions and therapeutic activities
• Support therapeutic milieu management and implement behavior management strategies
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients with diverse psychiatric diagnoses
