Manager Reliability Programs - T&S
Develop and Lead personnel in the management of complex Transmission and Substations (T&S) programs and projects consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple engineering disciplines (Transmission lines (Overhead and Underground), Substations (Civil and Electrical), Relay & Protection, Communications and SCADA). Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of multiple projects and programs. These projects have budgets that will typically range from $25,000 to multi-million dollars. Implement and monitor reliability and resiliency programs to ensure that committed projects are designed and completed on time. Obtain/Support financial approval for programs and projects. Work closely with Senior Managers of various T&S Engineering departments and their teams in developing and implementing strategies for system enhancement. Directly interface and partner with internal departments, including multi-levels of ComEd and Exelon leadership to ensure understanding and justify investments. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes safety, diversity and inclusion, and high productivity.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies .
Primary Duties:- Lead the analysis, development, and implementation of reliability and resiliency plans to improve the overall T&S system performance, enhancement, and maintenance. Ensure alignment of work with financial targets to meet year over year improving Key Performance Indices (KPIs)
- Oversees management of large and/or complex and unique projects/programs, requiring application of established project management principles and techniques. Directly accountable to deliver project/ program on time and at or below budget. Manage the overall budget
- Interface with internal and external customers, to ensure understanding of system investment plans
- Responsible to interface with other collaborating departments to ensure compliance for the scope, schedule, and budget of programs and projects
- Primary communicator with the category owner(s) and key stakeholders on project/program issues including executive level presentations
- Lead, coach and develop team members to improve performance and meet or exceed expectations. Mentor less experienced colleagues. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning
- Lead or participate in system-wide initiatives regarding the T&S system: resiliency, reliability, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance issues
- Provides Governance & Oversight for the organization on the assigned T&S investments category
- Partners with T&S Engineering Senior Managers and their teams in setting and implementing strategies for assigned T&S investments category
- Develops, participates, and guide the reporting team on:
- External reporting requirements on investments and associated benefits
- Analytics to ensure investment optimization across multiple T&S investment categories
- Bringing together various T&S program teams to foster improved collaboration, efficiencies, and knowledge sharing leading to innovative solutions
- Standardizing and integrating processes across T&S for project and program management to improve consistency and quality
- In collaboration with ComEd/Exelon Investment Strategy, Legal, External Affairs and Regulatory, acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for investment proceedings
- Reports on investment category financial performance and trends at all levels of organization (including Senior and Executive Leadership)
- Works collaboratively and very closely with ComEd Investment Strategy, Projects & Contracts Management (P&CM), Finance, Plant Accounting, Legal and T&S Work Management on ensuring system investments targets are met, tracked, trended, adjusted (as applicable) and reported
- Develops, participates, adjusts and presents on the Long-Range Plans (LRP) for the managed investment category
- Leads and Manages 4-10 direct reports with various levels of engineering and investment category management experience
- Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
- Establishes performance goals and expectations, coaches, mentors and provides feedback to direct reports
- Drives self and department staff to excel in all Exelon Core Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 7-10 years of delivery experience
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering designs, principles and practices
- Advanced knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles.
- Advanced knowledge of latest technologies necessary to perform a variety of specialized unique or complex assignments for various installation types of services.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi-tasking environment.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, problem solving, motivational, negotiation, time management, and oral/written communication skills are required.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with employees, customers, other departments, and outside agencies, extremely customer focused
- Self-initiator and proven performance management skills
- Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture.
- Graduate degree or graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification.
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 3-5 years of supervisor or manager experience
- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $120,800.00/Yr. – $166,100.00/Yr.
