The Child Welfare Supervisor will:
- Provide day-to-day supervision of case managers and direct care staff.
- Ensure compliance with all Illinois DCFS licensing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor case documentation for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Develop and oversee individualized service plans.
- Supervise admissions, discharge planning, and permanency efforts.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for staff.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, orientation, and staff development.
- Maintain compliance with licensing reviews, audits, and accreditation standards.
- Participate in emergency response, crisis intervention, and incident reviews.
- Collaborate with DCFS, schools, behavioral health providers, medical providers, courts, and community partners.
- Ensure youth receive appropriate educational, medical, behavioral health, and independent living services.
- Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and youth-centered practices.
- Participate in the agency's leadership team and strategic planning.
Applicants must meet the qualifications established under Illinois DCFS Child Welfare Licensing Standards.
Qualified applicants must possess one of the following:
Option 1
- Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution or an academically equivalent Master's Degree in a human services field; and
- A minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in child welfare or human services.
OR
Option 2
- Master's Degree in a related field not approved as academically equivalent to Social Work or Human Services; and
- Three (3) years of child welfare experience.
OR
Option 3
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Human Services (or academically equivalent); and
- Three (3) years of child welfare or human services experience; and
- Eligibility to meet additional DCFS educational requirements if applicable.

- Previous supervisory experience in child welfare.
- DCFS licensed agency experience.
- Foster care, residential, group home, or Transitional Living Program experience.
- Trauma-informed care certification or experience.
- Crisis intervention experience.
- Knowledge of Illinois child welfare regulations.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Experience with licensing reviews and quality assurance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Licensing Requirements
Applicants must be eligible to satisfy all applicable Illinois DCFS licensing standards for Child Welfare Supervisors.
