Vice President of Truckload Operations

Location: Chicago Area or Tampa, FL
Compensation: Base Salary around $150,000 plus performance-based bonus

About the Opportunity

We are a recruiting firm that partners with more than 50 logistics and transportation companies across the U.S. One of our established clients is seeking a Vice President of Truckload Operations to lead and grow its truckload brokerage division.

This is a senior, in-office leadership role designed for an experienced truckload brokerage professional who can step in as a leader on day one, manage an existing team, and drive operational performance and growth. This is not a sales role and does not include traditional commissions.

Role Overview

​​​​This role is a hands-on, in-office operations leadership position responsible for managing and growing the truckload brokerage operation. The role focuses on execution, people leadership, margin protection, and operational consistency , rather than executive-level strategy or large-scale org management.

This is not a sales role. The individual will partner closely with sales but remain accountable for day-to-day truckload execution and performance .

Core Responsibilities

• ​​​​​​Own daily truckload brokerage operations including execution, service, and margins

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 5–10 operations professionals

• Oversee carrier sourcing, pricing discipline, and capacity coverage

• Ensure operational standards, SOPs, and accountability are consistently applied

• Partner with sales leadership to support customer growth while protecting execution and profitability

• Improved gross margins and cost control

• Reduced escalations and operational issues

• Strong collaboration with sales and internal teams

Qualifications

Mandatory

• ​​​​​5+ years of truckload brokerage operations experience

• Prior experience leading small to mid-sized operations teams

• Hands-on operator comfortable being in the office daily

• Strong communicator and people manager

• Experience managing pricing, carriers, and execution in a brokerage environment

• College degree preferred
