Radiation Safety Consultant / Health Physicist

Stan A. Huber Consultants, Inc. has an opening for a full-time Radiation Safety Consultant / Health Physicist for our office in the Chicago area.

This is a position for a person who values exposure to a broad scope of health physics applications including nuclear medicine departments, laboratories, industrial radioactive materials programs, and site decommissioning projects. We are searching for someone who excels at working independently but is also comfortable collaborating as a member of our team.

Duties

· Evaluating and auditing radiation safety programs

· Preparing NRC and Agreement State radioactive materials license applications and amendments

· Technical and regulatory assistance to client facilities.

· Performing instrument calibration and leak testing of sealed sources

· Performing field surveys and data collection

· Assist in decommissioning projects and emergency response projects

· Present radiation safety training sessions

· Prepare written summary and follow-up reports

· Perform Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) duties

Requirements

· B.S. or M.S. in Health Physics or related science

· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Must be able to work independently and be available to travel one week per month to outlying customers in the Midwestern and North Central U.S.

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be willing to work outdoors, as needed

· Familiarity and experience with NRC and Agreement State radiation safety regulations a plus

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit package, including health and dental insurance. Starting salary range $70,000 - $110,000 based on experience. Company cars are provided. Paid vacation, personal days, and holidays. We provide a three-month mentoring training program.
