Job Summary
Served as a Patient Access Coordinator responsible for managing patient registration, insurance verification, appointment coordination, and administrative support. Worked closely with physicians, nurses, and other hospital departments to ensure accurate patient information and a smooth admission process while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Registered patients for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.
- Verified insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient demographic information.
- Collected and updated patient records using the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Scheduled appointments and coordinated referrals when required.
- Prepared admission and discharge documentation with accuracy.
- Assisted patients with registration questions, billing inquiries, and required consent forms.
- Maintained HIPAA compliance by protecting confidential patient information.
- Answered incoming telephone calls and directed patients to the appropriate departments.
- Collaborated with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and billing personnel to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Scanned, indexed, and maintained electronic medical records according to hospital standards.
Daily Duties
- Welcomed patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Confirmed patient identity and verified required documentation before services.
- Updated insurance information and processed registration forms.
- Coordinated with clinical staff regarding patient arrivals and scheduling changes.
- Managed front desk operations while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Resolved routine registration issues and escalated complex concerns when necessary.
- Ensured all records were complete before patient appointments or admissions.
