PICU RN Job Details Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois healthcare jobs Healthcare Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatric Advanced Care, Pediatric Med/Surg Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nurse contract Start Date: September 2, 2025 End Date: November 29, 2025 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), 36 hours/week Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250–$2310 PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 3 years of pediatric or critical care nursing experience Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred Active Illinois RN license in good standing BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association) PICU RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care in the PICU and related pediatric units Conduct initial patient assessments and create individualized care plans Implement and adjust care plans based on ongoing evaluations Monitor intake/output, change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs Administer medications using bar code scanning protocols Notify providers of high alert lab results and report suspected abuse/neglect Communicate effectively with patients and families through hourly rounding, bedside reports, and whiteboard updates Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, hospitalists, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members Maintain accurate documentation and uphold nursing competencies Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards Apply now to join our healthcare team and make a difference in pediatric nursing in Urbana, Illinois!
