***Site Material Handling PM position in East St. Louis, IL - FULLY ONSITE (5-7 days a week) working 50-70hrs weekly for this 10-14 week long project & OT pay available!***
The Site Project Manager (SPM)is responsible for overseeing the on-site execution of large-scale material handling system installation projects, ensuring successful delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. This individual serves as the primary on-site project leader, coordinating activities between customers, internal stakeholders, subcontractors, engineering teams, and vendors throughout the installation lifecycle. The ideal candidate has a strong background in project or site management within industrial, construction, automation, or material handling environments and is experienced managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and cross-functional project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in the successful delivery of projects with budgets up to $40M.
- Manage all on-site project activities from first site access through project completion.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, subcontractors, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved and risks are proactively addressed.
- Analyze project progress and identify schedule, installation, or operational challenges, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, operations, and field teams to drive project execution and resolve issues.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Support resource planning, talent evaluation, and workforce development initiatives.
- Provide regular project updates, status reporting, and executive-level communication.
- Make sound tactical decisions to maintain project momentum while balancing competing priorities.
- Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project for project planning and reporting.
- Spend approximately 90% of working time onsite supporting project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in Site Project Management, Construction Project Management, Industrial Project Management, Material Handling Systems, Manufacturing, Automation, or related environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and project scope.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with project reporting, forecasting, risk management, and issue resolution.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Field Services organizations.
- Experience leading installation, construction, facility buildout, automation, conveyor, distribution center, warehouse automation, or industrial projects preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
Preferred Experience
- Material handling systems, conveyor systems, warehouse automation, fulfillment centers, logistics facilities, distribution centers, or industrial construction projects.
- Experience managing projects valued up to $40M.
Compensation :
$45/hr to $65/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
