OverviewAs a Product Owner you have an exciting opportunity to join a growing Enterprise Data Management team focused on building a comprehensive management and view of data products across a large, global organization.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the AJG Enterprise Data Management team as a Lead for the Data Products initiative. As a Data Product Lead, you will be responsible for driving the development and execution of our data products for this domain, ensuring they meet the needs of our organization and customers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to define product requirements, prioritize features, and deliver high-quality data products.
This role involves significant cross-functional collaboration, including senior stakeholders. You will work in partnership with IT, [Product Stakeholders] and other internal partners to populate the insurance data warehouse with high quality data.
Key Performance Metrics: # of enhancements to existing platform, usage of the data sets, quality & completeness metrics on critical data elements (CDE)
How you'll make an impact- Define and prioritize the roadmap for [Product], aligning with the overall IT and business strategy and goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand their needs, translating them into clear and actionable product specifications.
- Lead a high-performing Agile data product team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality data products, while promoting a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
- Work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure the successful development and delivery of data products, ensuring they meet high quality standards and deliver on time.
- Leads the completion of change management activities across functional partners and ensures adherence to the organization’s risk, controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Understand the data needs to design and implement the data architecture and data model for a scalable data driven product organization.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the data product space, ensuring our products remain competitive and innovative.
- Leads end-to-end product delivery processes including intake, dependency management, release management, product operationalization, delivery feasibility decision-making, and product performance reporting, while escalating opportunities to improve efficiencies and functional coordination.
- Manage "program/feature" dependencies across multiple teams, scrum teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of our data products, making data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all data [Product]-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders, including strategies for leveraging the data product
Agile Framework
- Responsible for creating Agile work items to elaborate the needs for functional additions, enhancements, or defects, ensuring work items have a clear definition of done, and prioritizing work each sprint / quarter / year
- Responsible for providing demonstrations of platform features to the Collective Lead and other stakeholders outside the feature team
- Collaborates with the Scrum Master and Technical Lead in ensuring that epics and user stories include all requirements and are tagged with estimates
- Collaborates to fine-tune delivery approaches to meet the defined sprint goal
- Responsible for participating / collaborating in key agile ceremonies – daily stand-up, sprint reviews, and retrospectives – as fits with the squad’s established cadence and approach to running agile
- Responsible for accepting the user stories and work items of their assigned squad and providing actionable feedback on stories that don’t meet acceptance criteria
- Champion within their Division / Business Unit on Agile Ways of Working and participates in working sessions across the organization to accelerate agile adoption and improve on best practices
Requirements
- BA or BS Degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, data science, business analytics preferred) with relative insurance industry, insurance brokerage, and/or financial services industry experience required. A master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, in an agile environment, preferably in a data or analytics domain.
- Demonstrated success working independently in a matrix management model and collaborating with stakeholders and virtual teams across global locations
- Strong understanding of data management practices, including data privacy protection, data quality, data architecture & modeling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product specifications.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels and present to groups and external stakeholders.
- Experience applying Data Protection rules to data.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft stack and the following technologies: Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Collibra, and PowerBI.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Acord data model is a plus.
