State and Local Tax - Transaction Automation Associate (Fall 2026/Winter 2027)

RSM’s Transaction Tax Automation (TTA) practice is supported by a national team of subject matter experts that specialize in the implementation of technology platforms designed to enhance our client’s indirect tax compliance policies, procedures, and systems. Our team engages with our clients in a consultative, collaborative manner designed to focus on leveraging people, process, and technology to establish a more efficient and effective recurring compliance process.

As a Transaction Tax Automation (TTA) Associate within RSM’s State and Local Indirect Tax practice, your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with senior team members in the delivery of client engagements focused on optimizing indirect tax technology processes and system solutions.
• Providing valuable insights and contribute innovative ideas to the development of automated solutions, supporting clients in achieving indirect tax compliance processes and system infrastructure.
• Actively supporting the development of applications on diverse software platforms, ensuring proficiency in tools like Alteryx, Power BI, and Postman.
• Performing a key role in projects dedicated to designing and implementing enhanced processes and systems that align with clients' evolving indirect tax compliance requirements.
• Fostering collaborative relationships with colleagues across Advisory, Tax, and Consulting lines of business, contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach in delivering exceptional client service.
• Engaging in collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring the delivery of excellent client service.
• Providing crucial support to the national TTA team, maintaining a consistent high level of client service and industry knowledge, globally.
• Directly corresponding with clients on daily tasks and matters essential to supporting the implementation of various indirect tax technology platforms, such as Avalara, Thomson Reuters OneSource for Indirect Tax, and Vertex.

Basic Qualifications:

• B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university
• Computer Science, Accounting or Finance Major
• Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
• A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work effectively on a team
• Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
