Barista
Piccadilly Market - Lincoln Park is seeking an organized, passionate, and experienced Barista to join our coffee program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced café environment, enjoys delivering exceptional hospitality, and is committed to crafting high-quality coffee and espresso beverages.
As a key part of the guest experience, you'll do everything from dialing in espresso and preparing specialty coffee drinks to maintaining an inviting café environment and helping create memorable experiences for every guest. Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Hospitality
- Provide warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service to every guest.
- Welcome customers and help determine their coffee preferences and needs.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere where both regulars and first-time guests feel at home.
- Respond proactively to customer needs and resolve service situations with professionalism.
- Prepare coffee, espresso, and tea beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Dial in espresso and brewed coffee to ensure consistency throughout each shift.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment.
- Demonstrate strong bar flow while multitasking during high-volume service.
- Produce properly textured milk for espresso beverages and execute latte art.
- Prepare loose leaf tea and operate Fetco brewing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing coffee bar and café.
- Menu knowledge of our prepared food, coffee, and bar menus as well as some knowledge and willingness to learn about wine.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health standards at all times.
- Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process cash, credit, and debit card transactions.
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and restocking duties.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily café operations.
- Minimum 1 year previous specialty coffee or barista experience required.
- Experience dialing in espresso, managing bar flow, double barring, milk texturing, latte art, Fetco brewing, and loose leaf tea preparation.
- Food Safety & Illinois BASSET certification (or ability to obtain before employment).
- Passion for high-quality coffee and hospitality.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Dependable, accountable, and reliable.
- Scheduled 3–5 shifts per week
- Morning availability required.
- Must be available to work at least two weekend days (Friday-Sunday), two weekday shifts (Monday-Thursday), and most holidays (including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, and New Years Day)
