Business System Analyst (Chicago)

Job Summary

A financial services organization is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to partner with business and technology teams to deliver high‑impact solutions. This role is responsible for discovering, analyzing, and synthesizing information from diverse internal and external sources to define requirements, mitigate risk, and enable scalable system solutions.

The ideal candidate is a proven change agent who can break down complex problems into logical, actionable outcomes while effectively communicating across all levels of the organization. This role requires strong analytical thinking, agile delivery experience, and the ability to collaborate across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to define and deliver end‑to‑end solutions
• Analyze current‑state and future‑state processes to identify scope gaps, risks, and missing requirements
• Elicit, document, and manage business and system requirements, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Perform requirements analysis, story decomposition, system integration analysis, and data flow design
• Identify risks and dependencies and present solution options using structured, critical thinking
• Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews
• Serve as an advisor to Product Owners on prioritization, approvals, and next steps
• Support and mentor other analysts in developing high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with UI/UX teams to define and validate user interface requirements
• Support test planning, test case development, and validation of test results
• Facilitate cross‑team collaboration to ensure alignment on integrated components and end‑to‑end functionality
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise analysis standards, policies, and documentation

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of experience in business systems analysis, product analysis, or a related role
• Experience working in agile software development environments
• Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements
• Proficiency with requirements and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., Visio or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or post‑trade / clearinghouse environments
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and batch or streaming analytics
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with data management and visualization tools such as SQL, Kafka, Trino, Swagger, Tableau, or Alteryx
• Experience or strong interest in data analytics using Python and/or R
• Master’s degree (MBA or MS)
• Professional certifications such as CCBA, CBAP, AAC, or related credentials

Salary: $100k + bonus
