Plant Manager – Aluminum Extrusion
Location: Murphysboro, Il
Reports To: President
Facility Size: Over 300,000 sq ft manufacturing space
Press Capacity: 4 presses (7" to 12" diameter)
Employee Headcount: 270 employee
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Plant Manager to lead our aluminum extrusion facility. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all operations within our expansive 300,000+ sq ft manufacturing plant, which produces precision extruded and drawn tubing, as well as custom shape profiles for diverse markets including Transportation, HVAC, Electrical, and Consumer Durables. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, deep technical expertise in aluminum extrusion, and a proven track record of deploying and sustaining lean manufacturing principles to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and daily management for all plant operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality products that meet customer specifications.
Production Management: Oversee operations across four extrusion presses (ranging from 7" to 12"), drawn benches, multiple level wound coil draw lines, cut-to-length operations, and a comprehensive fabrication department.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the deployment, sustainment, and optimization of lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma).
Safety & Quality Assurance: Champion an uncompromising safety culture, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and implementing robust quality control systems to maintain ISO & IATF standards and customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership & Development: Mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing team of production managers, supervisors, and front-line employees. Foster a collaborative and engaged work environment.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the President and executive leadership to develop and execute long-term strategic plans, capacity planning, capital expenditure justification, and budgetary control.
Resource Management: Optimize the utilization of labor, materials, and equipment to maximize throughput, minimize waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience within the aluminum extrusion industry is mandatory.
Leadership: Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to manage complex operations and large teams, preferably within a unionized plant environment.
Technical Expertise: Strong technical understanding of aluminum metallurgy, extrusion processes, and downstream value-added operations (drawing, cutting, fabrication).
Lean Acumen: Extensive experience in the successful implementation and sustainment of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is strongly preferred.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Pay Range:
128,000.00 - 192,000.00We offer a comprehensive benefits package that may include medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and more!
