Road Ranger, a multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking too add a detail oriented Legal Assistant for Contracts and Real Estate to the Legal Department at our Schaumburg headquarters!
Position Summary:
The primary duties of the Legal Assistant are to assist in managing the company’s real estate transactions, leases, property taxes, commercial contracts, and to provide overall administrative support to the General Counsel.
- Administers the full cycle of Company’s real estate transactions, from LOI to Closing
- Manages full cycle of commercial contracts, from draft review to renewal date tracking
- Manages the Company’s leases and landlord/tenant relationships, including responsibility for the collection of revenue from tenant relationships
- Administers corporate property tax payments and assessment review/disputes
- Manages invoices for Legal Department professional services (i.e. outside counsel)
- Assists in the drafting and review of contracts, letters, and other legal documents
- Investigates and provides information to government agencies in connection with unemployment claims
- Conducts special projects as assigned
- Assists in all other departmental matters as needed
- 3+ years of experience in legal support, with an emphasis in contract management and/or real estate
- College education or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Experience working in a law firm, corporate legal department, title company, or similar environment
Other Qualifications:
- Active Notary Public status highly desirable
- Strong commitment to ethics and professionalism
- Highly competent in Microsoft Office suite of products
- Prior experience working with Contract Management System software preferred
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality
- Skilled in creative problem solving
- Ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure
- Capable of occasional travel for company business
