Job Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Chief serves as a senior leader within the department, assisting the Chief in planning, directing, and overseeing all activities. The Assistant Chief supports organizational goals by ensuring operational effectiveness, policy compliance, staff supervision, and community engagement. This role may act on behalf of the Chief during their absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, and programs.

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff; participate in the selection, training, and professional development of personnel.

• Oversee daily operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

• Coordinate and manage responses to critical incidents, emergencies, or major projects as assigned.

• Review and prepare reports, budgets, and recommendations for the Chief.

• Foster relationships with external agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

• Serve as Acting Chief when required.

• Represent the department at internal and external meetings, events, or committees.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief.

Estimated compensation for this position:

11,371,360.00 – 116,713.60 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
