Job Title: Payroll Accountant
Location: Berwyn, IL
Overview:
We are a leading manufacturing company in the packaging industry, committed to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team near Berwyn, IL. This position will play a critical role in processing payroll, managing union payroll requirements, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is essential. Key Responsibilities:

• Process multi-state, bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, including union workforce, using Ceridian Dayforce
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including garnishments, benefits, taxes, and other deductions
• Maintain compliance with union contracts and ensure accurate application of collective bargaining agreements in payroll processes
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports; ensure accurate general ledger entries related to payroll
• Prepare and post payroll journal entries into the general ledger
• Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts (e.g., wages payable, taxes payable)
• Assist in month-end close activities and financial reporting
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of W-2s and other tax-related documents
• Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, including union payroll
• Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce is required
• Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations at federal and state levels (especially Illinois)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting/payroll software
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
