City Clerk
The City of Chrisman is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Part-Time City Clerk . This position plays a key role in supporting daily municipal operations and serving the public.
Position Summary:
The City Clerk is responsible for administrative, record-keeping, and customer service functions for the city. This position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to interact effectively with residents and officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare for and attend city council meetings, including taking and maintaining accurate minutes
- Process and respond to FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests in compliance with Illinois law
- Assist with updating, maintaining, and enforcing city ordinances
- Provide assistance to citizens with questions, concerns, and service requests
- Process permits and maintains accurate records
- Receive and process payments for city services (utilities, permits, fees, etc.)
- Maintain organized files and public records
- Perform other clerical and administrative duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior clerical, administrative, or municipal experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of office software (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Work Schedule:
Part-time hours; schedule to be determined based on city needs.
Compensation:
Hourly wage based on qualifications and experience.
