Emergency coordinator

Job Title: Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
100% On-Site Position with no Hybrid or Remote arrangements.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of bachelor’s degree is required. Degree in Emergency Preparedness or related field and one (1) year related experience in emergency preparedness preferred. Emergency Preparedness has a mission to strengthen the Macon County Health Department (MCHD) response to emergencies or incidents affecting Macon County. These incidents/emergencies can include but are not limited to; weapons of mass destruction/terrorism, natural and man-made disasters, and disease outbreaks. Through funding made possible by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the MCHD collaborates with county partners on emergency plans and exercises, trains staff and volunteers in emergency roles, conducts syndromic surveillance, and integrates the National Incident Management System into response plans. Performs environmental health practices and techniques through field and office work.
Must have the ability to work with diverse community groups, physicians’ groups, government agencies, and press and state officials. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, health care providers, community agencies, the general public, and other professional personnel. Must be able to adjust schedule to accommodate after hours and weekend trainings and after hour presentations. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be able to adapt to new software as they are added. Public speaking skills necessary and knowledge of micro-biology helpful. Must have a dependable vehicle for use during work hours, valid Illinois Driver’s License, and appropriate auto insurance. Must be physically able to get in and out of a car many times per day in all types of weather conditions and be able to adapt in a positive manner to conditions (i.e., sewer, septic). Requires an individual be physically able to meet the demands of the job such as carrying equipment (lap top computer, projector and handouts) and assembling equipment and instituting procedures for emergency situations. Must be able to carry, pull, and manage a minimum of 30 pounds of equipment daily.
Salary: $ 54,600
Position Benefits: - 35 hr. work week
