• Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health – Locked Adult Psychiatric Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Contract
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $720-$730
• Patient Population: Adults (18+), low to high acuity
• No on-call or float required

Qualifications – Psych/MH Tech Jobs in Illinois

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician, Psych Tech, or Mental Health Technician
• Experience working in a locked psychiatric unit required
• Skilled in obtaining vital signs, applying 4-point restraints, and de-escalation techniques
• Proficient with electronic charting systems
• CPR (BLS) certification required; CPI certification preferred
• Experience leading group therapy and MS experience preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Current Illinois healthcare license required
• Two professional references (one from a direct supervisor/manager)

Responsibilities – Behavioral Health Technician

• Deliver direct patient care and clinical support in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Monitor and document patient vital signs, behaviors, and progress
• Implement safety protocols, including restraint procedures as needed
• Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient safety
• Lead or assist with group therapy sessions (preferred)
• Conduct regular room and patient safety checks
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
