Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school setting in Melrose Park, IL, for the full school year. The position offers flexibility with either full-time or part-time schedules to accommodate varying needs throughout the academic calendar.

Responsibilities include providing clear and effective sign language interpretation to students with hearing impairments in the elementary caseload. The interpreter will facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff, ensuring equitable access to the curriculum and full participation in classroom activities. Collaboration with special education teams and ongoing communication with teachers and support personnel will be essential to meet students' individual needs.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification preferred
• Experience interpreting in an educational setting, especially with elementary-aged students
• Familiarity with deaf culture and best practices for supporting students with hearing impairments
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work full-time or part-time schedules across the school year
