Position Overview:
T his entry-level position is designed to train new technicians on one of the four analytical aisles in the Quality Control (QC) laboratory. The technician will prepare process and/or finished product samples, perform analytical testing using both instrumental and wet chemistry methods, and record results in computerized data systems. Successful completion of training on one aisle is required before transitioning to the Laboratory Technician I rol e.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pr epare samples for analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Perform analytical testing using various instrumental (e.g., HPLC, GC, IC) and wet chemistry techniques.
- Accurately record and document test results using laboratory data systems.
- Complete plant and laboratory safety orientations and comply with all safety policies.
- Actively prevent accidents by identifying and eliminating hazards and reporting any accidents, injuries, or near misses promptly.
- Perform at least one Laboratory Safety audit per month.
- Complete a minimum of three safety engagement activities each month.
- Work within the demands of a 24/7/365 operation schedule.
- Demonstrate sufficient math skills to perform required lab calculations.
- Accept coaching, instruction, and constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
- Utilize computer systems proficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality department manageme nt.
Qualifications:
- No previous laboratory experience required; completion of a college-level science lab course is preferred.
- Background or education in science is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with cGMP, FDA regulations, and other regulatory requirements is a plus.
- Exposure to laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and IC is beneficial.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated reliability with a history of longer tenures in previous jobs preferred.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
Training & Advancement:
- New technicians typically complete aisle certification within 60-90 days.
- Progression to Laboratory Technician I occurs after successful aisle certification.
- Technicians are closely supervised and evaluated during training by Laboratory Technician III and Supervisory staff.
