Radiation Therapist Job Details

• Location: Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Radiation Oncology & Physics Unit
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Radiation Therapist Contract)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Hours per Week: 40 (Guaranteed)
• Shift Duration: 8-hour days
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,370–$2,430

Radiation Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Radiation Therapist in a clinical or hospital setting
• Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
• IEMA – Licensed Radiologic Technologist (Radiation Therapy) required
• ARRT (T) – Registered Radiation Therapist certification
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Key Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely to oncology patients
• Verify patient identification and prepare treatment rooms and radiation equipment
• Monitor patient condition during therapy, promptly recognizing and reporting complications
• Educate patients on procedures, safety protocols, and treatment expectations
• Reinforce physician guidance regarding treatment reactions and patient care instructions
• Perform quality assurance checks on treatment plans, linear accelerators, and equipment
• Conduct daily image fusion and verify treatment fields for precision
• Fabricate and utilize custom immobilization devices for accurate patient alignment
• Adhere to all principles of radiation safety and protection for patients, self, and staff
