Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes)
Kforce is partnering with a large, privately held North American distributor located in Waukegan, IL that is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes). This company is operating across eCommerce, logistics, and supply chain operations. They are actively investing in modernizing its technology stack, including transitioning to cloud-native architectures, containerization, and microservices to support continued growth. Job Description: A Senior Software Engineer (Kubernetes) plays a key role in designing and building the next generation of a technology platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on microservices architecture, containerization, and cloud-native development. This Senior Software Engineer will be a key part of the transition to a resilient, always-on platform, partnering with architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy cloud-native applications using modern microservices architecture
- Develop and maintain services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs
- Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes platforms (RedHat OpenShift preferred)
- Partner with architecture teams to implement scalable, distributed system designs
- Contribute to and optimize CI/CD pipelines
- Improve system observability, monitoring, and reliability (Grafana, Dynatrace, ELK, etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, architecture, and infrastructure teams
- Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering best practices
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes / container orchestration (OpenShift preferred)
- Strong experience with Java + Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience building microservices architectures
- Experience working with cloud-native applications and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Excellent communication and ability to work across teams
