Early Head Start Teacher

Our Early Head Start Teachers work under the guidance of our Education Coordinator and is responsible for the development and education of children between the ages of 6 weeks to 2 years old that are enrolled in our Early Head Start program.

Education/Position Requirements:

• Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (Illinois Gateways IT Credential Level 4 or higher)

OR

• Associate's Degree or higher in a related field/non-related field WITH 15 OR MORE CREDITS in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (Illinois Gateways IT Credential Level 4 or higher)

OR

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential in Infant & Toddler
• Proof of work/physical exam, (TB) test, and vaccinations (including, TDap, MMR, & COVID)
• Obtain Criminal Background Clearance from DCFS, State & FBI agencies
• Fluent verbal and written English communication. (Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred)

Applicants currently enrolled in an AA or BA program for ECE or Child Development are welcomed to apply.

Position Requirements:

• Implementing the curriculum through daily lesson plans and classroom schedule.
• Provide quality, nurturing care to children enrolled in the program.
• Maintain a safe learning environment at all times in classroom, playground, and common areas.
• Have proficient verbal and written communication skills and ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
• Have intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
• Conduct and document developmental screenings and assessments of children.
• Enter documentation and data into Teaching Strategies, CARES, and/or other programs used by the agency.
