Printer’s Row Pharmacy in Chicago’s South Loop is seeking a Pharmacy Intern or Certified Pharmacy Assistant to join our independent, wellness-focused team. This unique role blends clinical pharmacy, retail operations, marketing, and compounding experience in a hands-on environment you won’t find in chain pharmacies.

You’ll assist with prescription processing, patient counseling, inventory management, compounding, and provider outreach while learning the business and regulatory side of independent pharmacy. Ideal candidates hold an Illinois Pharmacy Intern License or Certified Pharmacy Technician/Assistant License , understand or are eager to learn Illinois pharmacy laws , and enjoy educating patients on supplements, skincare, and wellness.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a Pharmacy Intern or Certified Pharmacy Assistant who is motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This hybrid role offers exposure to everything from dispensing and counseling to marketing, compounding, and provider outreach.

You’ll work closely with pharmacists and management to ensure safe operations, engage with patients, and contribute to the pharmacy’s growing clinical and wellness programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with prescription intake, preparation, and labeling under pharmacist supervision.
• Provide patient counseling on medications, vitamins, supplements, and skincare products.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor communication to ensure proper stock levels.
• Support vaccine services , including preparation, scheduling, and patient follow-up.
• Participate in non-sterile compounding (formulation prep, documentation, labeling).
• Ensure compliance with Illinois pharmacy rules, regulations, and recordkeeping standards.
• Collaborate on marketing and community outreach projects (flyers, emails, social media, local partnerships).
• Learn sales and patient engagement strategies for cash-based wellness and clinical services.
• Contribute to CRM tracking, inventory control, and operational workflows.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Intern License OR Certified Pharmacy Assistant/Technician License
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn Illinois Board of Pharmacy laws and regulations
• Experience in retail pharmacy (independent experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of inventory management and ordering processes
• Comfortable providing medication, supplement, and skincare counseling
• Immunization and CPR certification (preferred, or willingness to obtain)
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Two professional or academic references required
• Enthusiastic, dependable, and eager to grow with a small, wellness-focused team
