Position Summary
The Department of Computer Science & Cyber Security at Roosevelt University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026 . We seek an innovative and collaborative scholar who is passionate about both teaching and research and committed to supporting a diverse student body in an urban, student-centered environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and excellence of our undergraduate and graduate computer science programs by teaching courses, conducting high-quality research, mentoring students, and participating in curriculum development and departmental service.
About the Department:
Located in downtown Chicago, the Department of Computer Science and Cybersecurity offers undergraduate and graduate programs that emphasize applied learning, small class sizes, and strong industry connections. The department is growing rapidly and expanding its portfolio to include emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Bioinformatics.
As part of its strategic growth, the department plans to introduce a doctoral program within the next two years, creating exciting opportunities for faculty research, student mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Faculty work closely together on curriculum development, program innovation, and projects that support Roosevelt University’s mission of social justice and access to education.
Responsibilities:
Teaching:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science and related areas.
- Develop and deliver innovative instructional materials and learning experiences.
- Engage students in active learning and inclusive pedagogy.
Research & Scholarship:
- Maintain an active research agenda in computer science or a closely related field.
- Publish in peer-reviewed venues and seek external funding where appropriate.
- Mentor and supervise student researchers at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Curriculum & Program Development:
- Collaborate with faculty to develop, enhance, and evaluate curriculum offerings.
- Contribute to new program initiatives aligned with emerging areas in computing and technology.
Service:
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance.
- Support community engagement and student recruitment initiatives.

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or software engineering are especially encouraged to apply.
Equipment Operated
Basic office equipment (desktop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax and telephone).
Working Conditions
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 20 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.
