Now, we’re seeking a Surgical Tech to join our Barrington ASC team—supporting high-quality surgical care that helps patients get back to what they love.

The Opportunity
As a Surgical Tech at IPSI, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality care. Working closely with our registered nurses and surgical staff, you’ll maintain sterile environments, assist during procedures, and support overall OR readiness. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where your attention to detail and technical skill will directly support better outcomes and patient experiences.

What You’ll Do:

Surgical Support & OR Assistance
  • Maintain proper sterile fields during surgical procedures.
  • Scrub, gown, and glove self and assist the surgical team with the same.
  • Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons, hold retractors, cut sutures, and support as directed.
  • Prepare and apply surgical dressings and bandages.
  • Monitor OR conditions and respond to patient and team needs in real time.
Equipment & Supply Management
  • Assemble, operate, and monitor sterilizers, suction machines, lights, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Wash and sterilize equipment using appropriate germicides and sterilizers.
  • Order and maintain surgical supplies and fluids (e.g., plasma, saline, blood).
  • Clean and restock the operating room, arranging instruments according to preference cards.
Patient & Procedure Preparation
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including proper positioning and draping.
  • Observe and assess patients’ vital signs.
  • Prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens for lab analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate timely and accurate updates to the registered nurse.
Compliance & Training
  • Complete annual mandatory training by the assigned due date.
  • Adhere to all safety, hygiene, and procedural protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • BLS certification (required)
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program preferred; certification (CST) not required in Illinois, but a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year healthcare experience (required).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar
  • Physical capability to meet job demands, including lifting and visual requirements
