Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing finished prescriptions on the pharmacy floor for final verification by a pharmacist. You will work in a high-volume environment, supporting daily drug order fulfillment while maintaining strict compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures.
- Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume periods.
- Manually package materials and products to support prescription fulfillment operations.
- Pull and pick medications from shelving units, prepack racks, and other designated medication storage areas.
- Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before final pharmacist review.
- Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately if any medication or product does not scan properly or shows discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and replenish all stock and supplies as needed.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA requirements, to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Comply with departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support pharmacy operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and compliant pharmacy operations.
- Current pharmacy technician license issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy.
- National Certified Pharmacy Technician credential.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong pharmacy fulfillment experience, including filling prescriptions and data entry.
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry to maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow directions and documentation.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing pharmacy floor duties.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds safely as part of daily tasks.
- Ability to work at a moderate speed while handling high-volume prescription orders.
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and other applicable pharmacy regulations.
- Experience working in a high-volume pharmacy or fulfillment environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail when labeling, scanning, and packaging medications.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly workstations and inventory areas.
- Reliability and flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and weekends when needed.
- Comfort working under the supervision of a pharmacist and collaborating with pharmacy team members.
This position is based in a pharmacy fulfillment setting with scheduled hours typically from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with every other weekend shifts from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You will spend most of the day standing, walking between shelving and storage areas, and manually packaging and handling medications. The work involves handling high volumes of orders at a moderate pace, using computer systems and scanners to ensure accuracy in labeling and verification. You will be expected to follow established safety procedures, adhere to departmental dress code standards, and maintain a clean and organized workstation. Overtime, holiday, and weekend work may be required to meet operational demands.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burr Ridge, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.84 - $23.00/hr.
