Lead Barista

We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and hospitality-driven Lead Barista to join our team at River Roux , a French inspired cafe and bistro in Chicago. This role focuses entirely on delivering exceptional coffee service and warm hospitality. As a Lead Barista, you will craft quality coffee and espresso beverages, support daily café operations, and help create a welcoming environment for tenants, guests, and visitors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, service-forward environment and takes pride in consistency, presentation, and guest engagement.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks with speed, precision, and consistency.
2. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workspace in accordance with all health and safety standards.
3. Provide warm, attentive service to every guest, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
4. Assist with POS transactions, restocking, and maintaining product displays.
5. Support team members and contribute to smooth daily operations.
6. Uphold an environment of hospitality, teamwork, and professionalism.

Qualifications

1. Previous barista or café experience preferred, but we’re happy to train the right candidate.
2. Strong communication skills and a guest-focused outlook.
3. A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn.
4. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
5. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
