Core Responsibilities

• Functional Evaluations: Perform comprehensive assessments, classroom observations, and reviews of school/medical records to determine if a student qualifies for services.
• Goal Setting: Develop specific, educationally relevant goals and objectives for the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Direct and Consultative Interventions: Provide direct skill-building therapy or consult with teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to modify tasks and recommend adaptive equipment.
• Team Collaboration: Participate actively in multidisciplinary educational teams to support students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily functioning within the school environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (or related area).
• State Licensing: Valid Illinois license as an Occupational Therapist.
• Certifications: Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Occupational Therapist endorsement (typically required for Illinois school-based therapists)
