Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown / IMC (Intermediate Care)
• Employment Type: Travel RN
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2050
• Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 – 07:15)
• Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week (flexible)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Cerner
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, PCU, or Telemetry nursing experience
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Level I Trauma nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float within scope to support hospital needs
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults in a fast-paced Cardiac Stepdown/IMC unit
• Monitor and manage cardiac conditions, including post-cardiac procedures, dysrhythmias, and cardiac drips
• Provide care for ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and advanced respiratory support
• Manage feeding tubes, central lines, arterial lines, and PICC lines
• Administer blood products, medications, and sedation as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to isolation precautions and wound care protocols
