Educational Sign Language Interpreter - $40/hr - Westmont, IL - Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are hiring an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting. This role ensures students have access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions through interpretation using American Sign Language (ASL).

Assignment Details:

• Location: Westmont, IL

• Start Date: January 5, 2026

• End Date: 5 months

• Schedule: Monday-Friday | 21 hrs/week

• Modality: In-person

• Pay Rate: $40/hr | W2 position with full benefits

• Openings: 1 full-time and 1 part-time (afternoons only, 1:1 interpreting for a preschooler)

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa

• Provide accommodations for classroom instruction and activities

• Maintain compliance with professional standards of practice

Requirements:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field (preferred)

• State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)

• EIPA or RID certification (as applicable per state or client requirement)

• Current CPR (if applicable)

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable)

• Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
