Account Manager

**Overview: **

A growing mechanical and fire protection contractor is seeking an experienced Account Manager to support and expand its Fire Protection division. This role focuses on estimating, selling, and managing fire sprinkler projects while strengthening relationships with existing clients and developing new business across the Chicago and Northern Indiana markets.

Responsibilities

• Estimate, sell, and manage fire sprinkler projects, including service, tenant improvement, and commercial work.
• Grow revenue through both assigned accounts and new business development.
• Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities within mechanical, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and industrial service lines.
• Prepare estimates, proposals, and project financial updates.
• Manage project documentation, job cost reporting, and internal accounting requirements.
• Participate in networking, associations, and occasional after-hours industry events.
• Support departmental operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability.
• Assist with collections when accounts become problematic.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in fire protection, fire sprinkler estimating, project management, or construction-related sales.
• Proven ability to estimate, sell, and manage fire sprinkler projects.
• Strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, NFPA codes, and construction practices (preferred).
• Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
• Experience with cost tracking, forecasting, and project financials.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience with construction contracts and project documentation (preferred).
• Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
• Willingness to participate in networking and industry events.
