Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2000 - $2050 per week

Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center
• Unit: 23-bed Surgical/Medical-Surgical Unit
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 – 07:15); 3x12s or 4x12s per week
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/02/2025 – End: 12/02/2025)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or in application process
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting
• BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficient in PICC line management and IV starts
• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Ability to float within scope to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy medical-surgical unit
• Monitor and manage patients with neurological and surgical diagnoses (stroke, TIA, brain mass, seizures, post-op back/neck surgeries, craniotomies)
• Administer medications and treatments, including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and seizure medications
• Assist with special procedures such as EEGs and lumbar punctures
• Start IVs and manage PICC lines as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for comprehensive patient care
• Float to other medical-surgical units or affiliate hospitals as operationally required
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
• Provide compassionate support and education to patients and families
