Role at a Glance
- Maintain and repair diesel school buses across engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults and deliver accurate, timely fixes that restore performance.
- Conduct safety inspections and align work with all state and federal requirements.
- Record every service action precisely for each unit in the fleet.
- Collaborate with teammates to improve shop efficiency and service outcomes.
- Stay informed on new diesel technologies and industry advancements.
- Provide dependable support to drivers and school administrators regarding vehicle condition and maintenance plans.
Must-Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent; diesel mechanic certification or technical training preferred.
- Demonstrated diesel mechanic/technician experience; school bus background preferred.
- Robust knowledge of diesel engine architecture and related systems.
- Comfort with diagnostic tools, scanners, and shop equipment.
- Strong problem-solving, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Team-first communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
