Work Location: 281 SHORE DR, UNITS C AND D, Burr Ridge, IL
Contract: 03/23/2026 to 06/20/2026 (Open to perm)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday with weekend shifts as scheduled once fully trained
Shift: Primarily evening/overnight shifts

• 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM

• 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM

• 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM

Interview Process: One round, in-person interview

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for supporting pharmacy management goals and ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications within a long-term care pharmacy setting. This role provides comprehensive drug review, verification, and dispensing services while collaborating closely with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to meet operational deadlines and medication release goals.

The Staff Pharmacist plays a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting medication distribution to long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations including workflow management, production targets, and dispensing deadlines

• Verify prescription orders for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate labeling

• Perform comprehensive drug utilization review including evaluation of drug–drug, drug–disease, drug–food interactions, and allergy checks

• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to ensure medications are prepared and released according to the 2 PM and 2 AM facility delivery timelines

• Respond to incoming phone calls, emails, billing requests, and data entry inquiries

• Review and verify medications prepared for automated dispensing units (Cubex machines)

• Inspect and verify medication kits including refrigerated and IV kits

• Supervise pharmacy production staff to ensure proper order entry, workflow accuracy, and security of pharmacy operations

• Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of sterile IV medications and solutions

• Ensure proper ordering, receiving, storage, and documentation of medications including controlled substances

• Maintain perpetual inventory records for Schedule II controlled substances

• Ensure all crushed or dropped medications are segregated and disposed of properly according to RCRA and applicable waste regulations

• Maintain and clear workflow dashboards daily to support operational efficiency

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and DEA requirements

• Follow departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code

• Provide evening and weekend coverage as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited School of Pharmacy

• Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing

• Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacist experience

• Strong clinical knowledge including drug interactions, contraindications, and allergy review

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

• Ability to work accurately and efficiently when dispensing medications

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced pharmacy environment

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (7–10 hours per shift)

• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, or climbing

• Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds occasionally

• Ability to work in a long-term care pharmacy environment where noise levels may be elevated
