About Locum Rheumatologist Jobs:

General Job Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and treat patients with autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and other rheumatologic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout and osteoporosis. 
• Perform joint injections, aspirations and other minor procedures as necessary. 
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments and manage complications related to chronic conditions. 
• Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options and post-care management strategies. 
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. 
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records. 

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of rheumatologic diseases, diagnostic methods and treatment options.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex medical information to patients.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex conditions.

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. 
• Residency training program in internal medicine or a related field accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). 
• Fellowship training in rheumatology. 

License & Certifications:

• Board certification in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). 
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Illinois.

Experience:

• While specific requirements may vary, most locum rheumatology positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
