Position overview: 

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Medical Programs is seeking to hire a Claims Tech Support Analyst in the claims support area of the Bureau of Technical Services. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex tasks in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with excellent communication abilities, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset to support our claims team efficiently. The Claims Tech Support Analyst will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations and providing critical support to the department and specializing in institutional claims.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in medical claims, including utilizing Electronic Data Interchange Health Insurance Portability and Accountability transactions as well as maintaining accurate documentation. A strong understanding of running reports and testing is essential for success in this role. This role will also spend a lot of time assisting with the development and maintenance of Project Initialization Requests, Project Resolution Requests, and Change Requests for their section.

Essential Functions

  • Under general supervision, serves as a Claim Tech Support Analyst by developing and conducting ongoing analysis of the detailed and overall operation of the processing of medical claims within the Division
  • Provides in-depth analysis
  • Evaluates effectiveness of the long-range goals and objectives relevant to the resolution of claims processing problems
  • Assists in the analysis and coordination for formulating, developing, testing, installing, and monitoring modification/enhancements to program changes within the Division
  • Provides technical assistance and advice to management on progress and/or problems encountered on the operation of systems of program changes/enhancements within the Division
  • Assists in conducting complex studies of program operations affected by changing policy and/or special requirements
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, supplemented by a master’s degree in business or public administration, with coursework in areas such as economic theory, accounting and finance, organizational theory, and operations research
  • Requires one (1) year progressively responsible professional experience in management operations analysis or the completion of an approved training program
