Location: Itasca, IL
LaSalle Network is partnering with a global organization that has created a new opportunity for a Benefits Leave & Accommodation Specialist to join their team in Itasca, IL. Reporting to the Sr. Global Benefits Manager, this role will be a key resource in supporting teammates across the U.S. through the administration of leave of absence, short-term disability, and accommodation programs. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created position where you’ll have visibility across HR, legal, and leadership teams, while making a direct impact on employee experience and compliance.
Benefits Leave & Accommodation Specialist Responsibilities:
Administer and interpret leave of absence and accommodation programs in compliance with FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and other federal and state laws
Partner with the third-party administrator to process and track short-term disability and leave claims, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution
Serve as a trusted advisor to teammates, managers, and HR business partners by providing guidance on leave policies, return-to-work procedures, and accommodation processes while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA
Act as the subject matter expert for leave and disability programs, offering recommendations and support for ADA requests and reasonable accommodations
Maintain accurate records, case notes, and reporting to support compliance requirements and legal defense, as well as ensure pay accuracy for leave and STD hours
Support training, knowledge-sharing, and process documentation to improve efficiency and awareness of leave programs across the organization
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen the teammate experience and support organizational compliance initiatives
Benefits Leave & Accommodation Specialist Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
5+ years of HR or benefits administration experience, including 3+ years managing leave in a multi-state environment
Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, HIPAA, Section 125, and multi-state requirements
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with high attention to detail and follow-through
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to support and advise employees and leaders with professionalism and discretion
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HR systems preferred
Certifications such as CEBS, CBP, PHR, or SHRM-CP are a plus
