General Manager

Illinois based professional theatrical production company seeks a General Manager with no less than 3 years of hands-on business and production experience. This candidate must be highly skilled in all facets of managing a full theatrical musical production and managing the day-to-day operations of managing load-ins/loadouts of venues, and familiar with the working of backstage and FOH. GM will also be involved in the overall marketing strategy, social media development, work closely with producer on show selection, and securing show venues for the season. This will also include managing venue contracts and ensuring deposits to each venue are issued in a timely manner.

Well-honed communication skills are required to keep Box Office, SM, ASM, PA, FOH, ushers, and resident venue personnel informed and on point so that each day's performance runs as flawlessly as possible, on time every time. GM will work closely with SM & ASM load-in/load out call times and show times are strictly adhered to, properly staffed, and do not run over budget. Time is money.

Tracking cast and swing show pay and tech crew hours and reporting payroll to producer is an integral part of the GM’s administrative duties. Time sheets must be turned in to the producer every other Wednesday for Friday payroll to be issued.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Salary ranges from $40K-$45K for part-time employment. The season runs 43 weeks 4.5-5 hours on select days. This is a position for a true take charge theatre professional who anticipates issues before they arise. We seek someone who focuses on the solution and not the problem. Your attention to expenses and bottom line are paramount to the success of the company. The first raise comes at years end and is based on the completion of benchmarks set forth at hiring.
