Supervisor equipment department of transportation
Provide day-to-day direction and supervise staff to ensure efficient workflow and productivity in road equipment maintenance operations. Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of automotive and mechanical equipment used by the bureau/department maintenance facilities. Evaluate and recommend new equipment purchases, inspect and approve new acquisitions, and coordinate staff training related to equipment and machinery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher, and
- Four (4) years of work experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline-and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, or directly related experience is required .
- Two (2) years of prior supervisory or lead experience is required .
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required .
- Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance is required .
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

- Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization .
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of the mechanical principles related to the design and operation of automotive, construction, and specialized highway equipment.
- Knowledge of standard shop practices, methods, tools, and machines of the various skilled mechanical trades used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy road equipment, and various facilities' mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of the types and capabilities of equipment used in highway maintenance.
- Ability to advise staff on highly technical and mechanical problems and plan or direct the work of others. Ability to order existing replacement parts and collaborate with outside vendors.
- Ability to enable a collaborative team culture and provide day-to-day direction of tasks.
- Ability to perform escalated or more complex work similar to the work done by staff being supervised.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks to staff and collaborate with leadership to achieve organizational or department success.
- Ability to align team tasks with departmental procedures and objectives, and serve as a reliable resource for other employees in an area of expertise.
- Ability to apply strong organizational and leadership skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Salary Range: $95,211 - $105,065 Yearly.
