Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) Job – Springfield, Illinois

Job Details – Labor & Delivery RN Travel Assignment

• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-recognized
• Unit: Family Maternity (Labor & Delivery)
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 24, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,090 - $2,140 per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Scrubs: Provided
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in an acute care or hospital setting
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (required at time of application)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN or equivalent)
• Proficient in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) interpretation
• Experience in teaching hospitals preferred
• Ability to float to related units within scope as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps holiday period

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns, responding promptly to changes
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as ordered
• Educate and support patients and families throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, social services, and rapid response teams
• Document all care accurately in Cerner EMR
• Float to other nursing units within scope to support hospital staffing needs
