Machine Operator – Steel Processing & Overhead Crane Operator
Now Hiring: Machine Operators in a Steel Manufacturing Environment
Are you experienced in manufacturing, steel processing, machine operation, or material handling? We're seeking dependable Machine Operators to join a growing steel processing facility. This position offers the opportunity to operate industrial equipment, work with overhead cranes, and build a long-term career in a stable manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities- Set up and operate heavy industrial machinery used in steel processing operations
- Operate overhead cranes to move steel coils, raw materials, and finished products safely
- Remove finished products from machinery and stage materials for shipment
- Band, wrap, and package steel coils and steel products for storage and transportation
- Apply labels and tags accurately to ensure product identification and traceability
- Weigh finished products and record measurements for shipping documentation
- Palletize materials by securing products to skids and preparing loads for shipment
- Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed
- Follow all safety procedures related to crane operation, heavy machinery, and material handling
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
- Overhead crane experience strongly preferred
- Material handling experience in a heavy industrial setting
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Ability to safely work with steel coils, heavy materials, and industrial equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
- Willingness to learn new processes and cross-train on multiple machines
- Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays when needed
- Steel processing, slitting, coil handling, or metal manufacturing
- Single hoist operation
- Packaging, banding, wrapping, or warehouse material handling
- Shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment
This position is located in a steel processing facility where employees work with overhead cranes, industrial machinery, forklifts, and material handling equipment. The facility offers a close-knit culture focused on safety, teamwork, and employee development.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minooka, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
