Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Peoria, IL 61637 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (8/25/2025 – 11/24/2025)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070 per week

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Proficient with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform required physical tasks
• Must pass drug screening per hospital policy

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care as ordered by licensed healthcare professionals for patients in general, intermediate, ICU, and emergency units
• Perform life-sustaining interventions during emergencies, including Rapid Response and Blue Alerts
• Act as primary airway manager during Blue Alerts
• Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, including advanced ventilator modes
• Administer aerosolized medications, medical gases (Nitrogen, Heliox, Nitric Oxide), and oxygen therapy
• Assess patient responses to therapy and recommend adjustments as needed
• Document all interventions and patient outcomes per hospital and regulatory guidelines
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds in ICUs and intermediate care units
